Model United Nations Assembly or MUNA is all about building bridges of goodwill for world peace and understanding in the minds of our youth.
MUNA challenges our youth to respect and tolerate differences of race, religion and nationalism whilst retaining their own individualism and the best of their national traditions. Rotary MUNA is now conducted in all five continents of the world and aims to operate in each of the existing 518 Rotary Districts world wide.
The main aims are to develop in students an awareness of the United Nations and the international situation of other countries in the world:
- to enable students to improve their public speaking and debating skills;
- to encourage them to make sympathetic and informed comments on world problems;
- share their opinions and friendship with students from other schools; and
- lay the foundation for the free sharing of ideas across national boundaries which is the essence of a truly open society tolerant to differences of race, religion, and political opinion.

Recognition of Youth Award (ROYA)
In August 2010, the Rotary Club of Revesby Wirrimbirra sponsored an outstanding student to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.

For enquiries regarding ROYA please email our Club at revesbywirrimbirrarotary@hotmail.com or go to the Contact Us page on this website.
Recognition of Youth Award is unique to Rotary District 9690. ROYA seeks applications from young people of all-round ability, who have already attained some personal and educational goals, who have embarked upon community interests and are conscious of opportunities to participate in a wide range of interest groups.
The ROYA contest is divided into two sections: Senior 17-19 years and Junior 13-16 years with winners being recognised with trophies, collars of office and certificates. The program recognises and encourages all nominated candidates to continue ‘their efforts of providing leadership within their own communities’. Judging is by personal interview conducted over a weekend and is based upon the information contained in the entry form.
A formal presentation night is held for participants and families, where some candidates provide entertainment. Applications close in early August.
